Costume makeup is a subject near and dear to my heart. While I love Halloween, I don’t think we should isolate dressing up or being fancy to just one day out of the year. That’s why I find excuses for practicing my makeup artistry throughout the year and this year Valentine’s is no different.
Just check out this new line of makeup from Illamasqua. A sort of “Femme fatale” look but with Valentines dripping from every line. The shades of red are wonderful and could double for amazing vampire blood later on in the year.
Turning the woman’s face into a heart is such a wonderfully playful way to reference the holiday while not overdoing the holiday’s innate glamour. And what better way to reference the past than to add a heart shaped beauty mark? A little french courtesan, a little 1950s pin-up girl. I couldn’t be more excited for Valentines now!
